  1. April 30th marked our 3rd annual Autism Awareness Walk. We started at the Coxsackie Village Building and ended at McQuade Park. This year there were many activities for participants to enjoy after the walk. The Coxsackie Police Department was there fingerprinting children. The Coxsackie Rescue Squad let children walk through their vehicle and "check things out!" The Greene County Sheriff's department was available to discuss the personal tracking device, "Project Lifesaver." Service providers had tables of information to explain what they offer to individuals with special needs. And of course, food, icecream, popcorn and a cookie table where individuals could decorate their own. Many thanks to Debra Donatto for coordinating all of this, your hard work paid off! Thank you to Kelly Fagan for recruiting the Girl Scout and Brownie Troops to help spread autism awareness in Greene County throughout the month of April. Thank you to the Knights of Columbus for cooking and "manning" the food table. Before the walk, Mayor Mark Evans spoke encouraging words to the crowd, and Legislator Joe Izzo, with Legislator Christian Pfister by his side, read a proclamation that was adoped by the Greene County Legislature proclaiming April as Autism Awareness Month in Greene County. Thank you to the Village of Coxsackie and the Police Department for helping to make this year's walk successful.
